New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in a residential area in Maharashtra's Nagpur city on Monday, damaging about 100 hutments. The fire broke out around 10 am in Mahakali Nagar in the Beltarodi area, where several laborers live, the official said. No casualties have been reported so far in this accident. According to the information received, about 100 huts have been gutted in the fire. However, the fire has now been brought under control.
The fire began from the eastern side of the settlement and spread quickly nearby because of the blast of LPG cylinders, wind, high temperature and ignitable material used for hutment development like wood, bamboo, plastic sheets and fabric, Nagpur Municipal Corporation's central fire official Rajendra Uchake said.
"Around 100 hutments were gutted in the fire. Houses with pucca construction (RCC brickwork) stopped the spread of the fire and they were not much affected," he said.
