Malayalam Poet And Lyricist Anil Panachooran Passes Away Due To Cardiac Arrest; CM Offers Condolences
Noted poet and Lyricist from Kerala, Anil Panachooran died of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment for Covid-19.
New Delhi: Kerala poet and lyricist Anil Panachooran passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest while being treated for Covid-19. The 55-year-old had tested positive for Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kollam district. A report by PTI says that he brought to another facility in Thiruvananthapuram at around 7.20 pm on Sunday.
He is survived by his wife Maya and their children Maitreyi and Arun.

Panachooran who was a lawyer by profession is know became known for his poem ‘Anaadhan’ which was also featured in the film Makalkku. Other noted poems include Valayil Veena Kilikal,’ ‘Oru Mazha Peithengil,’ ‘Prayakalam’ and ‘Kanneerkanalukal.
He is also known for his famous lyrics in movies including 'Arabikadha', 'Kadha Parayumbol', 'Madambi', 'Marykkundoru Kunjaadu', 'Velipadinte Pusthakam' among many others.
He came to the limelight after his songs for the 2007 Malayalam film ‘Arabikkadha’ became a hit. Songs such as ‘Chora Veena Mannil’ which is about communism became very popular in Left circles. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala offered their condolences on the death of Panachooran.
"Anil's songs "Chora Veena Mannil" in Arabi Katha and 'Barbaram Balane' in Kathaparayumpol will always be in the minds of Malayalees. His untimely demise is a great loss," said CM Vijayan.
Chennithala said he had a good relation with the late poet and that "we lost a talented poet and lyricist.
