'If You Resort To Dadagiri, We Know How To Crumble It': CM Uddhav Thackeray On Hanuman Chalisa Row

On the issue of reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshree, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that if someone wants to come to Matoshree, then come, but dadagiri will not work.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing Hanuman Chalisa row in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday broke his silence on the issue, saying that no one should teach the lesson of Hindutva to Shiv Sena.

On the issue of reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshree, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that if someone wants to come to Matoshree, then come, but dadagiri will not work.

"It's being said that we've ignored Hindutva. Is Hindutva a dhoti or what? Our Hindutva is 'Gada Dhari' like Lord Hanuman's Gada. If you want to recite Hanuman Chalisa, call and come home. But if you resort to 'Dadagiri' we know how to crumble it," said CM as reported by news agency ANI.

"Many people have acidity in their stomachs due to the developments taking place in Mumbai. They only want to speak on loudspeakers...I don’t care about them at all," CM added.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has also reacted saying, "If you wish to recite Hanuman Chalisa then chant it at your home. Don't you have your homes?... Many people are trying to spoil the atmosphere."

In the midst of the ongoing controversy over loudspeakers in Maharashtra, the government had called an all-party meeting today (25 April). All parties except BJP participated in the meeting. Former CM Devendra Fadnavis and Chandrakant Patil were to attend this meeting from BJP. After the meeting, Aaditya Thackeray said that it is not a matter of temple-mosque, but a matter of loudspeakers. We cannot make rules for any one party. We will discuss this issue with the central government and at the same time the order of the Supreme Court will be followed in the state.
