Punjab Police Books Kumar Vishwas Over 'Inflammatory Statements' Against Arvind Kejriwal
In a notice by Punjab Police, Vishwas has also been asked to produce evidence to support his allegations.
New Delhi: Punjab Police on Wednesday reached former Aam Aadmi Party member Kumar Vishwas’ residence in Ghaziabad. The poet took to Twitter to inform about the same and targeted Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Hours later a case was registered against Vishwas over his "inflammatory statements" against party chief Arvind Kejriwal during the Punjab Assembly polls.
“Early in the morning, Punjab Police arrived at the door. Bhagwant Mann I am warning you that the man sitting in Delhi, whom you are allowing to play with the power given by the people of Punjab, will one day betray you and Punjab also,” wrote Kumar on Twitter.
देश मेरी चेतावनी याद रखे🙏🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/yDymGxL1gi

"We have registered a case under relevant provisions of the law against Kumar Vishwas," Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Garg told news agency PTI over the phone.
In a notice, Vishwas has also been asked to produce evidence to support his allegations.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi MLA, Naresh Baliyan responded to Vishwas’ remarks by saying that Punjab police had reached to take proof of his statement during the Punjab assembly elections.
During Punjab assembly elections in February this year, Kumar Vishwas had raised allegations against Arvind Kejriwal that the latter was ready to take support from fringe and separatists elements to become chief minister of Punjab.
“One day, he (Kejriwal) told me he would either become the chief minister (of Punjab)...or the first prime minister of an independent nation (Khalistan),” he had said in an interview.
Kejriwal, in response to Kumar’s claim, has said in an exclusive interview with ABP News that if he was planning such an activity for 10 years then why did the prime minister or any other government agencies take action against him.
“They have no idea what kind of impact these statements do (separatist comment) on the community. It divides the nation,” Kejriwal had said.
“If I have been planning such for 10 years as alleged then why didn't PM Modi or other government agencies take action against me?” he asked.
The FIR has been registered against Vishwas under various Sections, including 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place etc), 505 (whoever makes, publishes or circulates any statement, rumour or report), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and 125 of the Representation of People Act.
