Indian Army Dog 'Zoom', Who Fought Terrorists In J&K During Encounter, Passes Away
Zoom was seriously injured on Monday during an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.
New Delhi: Indian army dog, who was under treatment at the army's veterinary hospital in Srinagar, passed away around 12 noon today, as reported by news agency ANI. “Army dog Zoom, under treatment at 54 AFVH (Advance Field Veterinary Hospital ), passed away around 12 noon today,” army officials were quoted as saying, adding that Zoom was responding well till around 11:45 am when he suddenly started gasping and collapsed.

“Zoom’s condition was improving and the canine was responding well to the treatment. The dog looked fine till around noon after which it suddenly started gasping and soon collapsed,” the officials said as quoted by PTI.
Zoom was seriously injured on Monday during an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. On receiving information about the presence of terrorists, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Tangpawa area of the South Kashmir district late on Sunday night, officials said.

On Monday morning, the army sent an attack-capable Zoom inside the house where the terrorists were hiding. Zoom identified the terrorists and attacked them. During this, he got two bullets.

Officials said that Zoom is a highly trained dog. He has been trained to detect and eliminate terrorists. Zoom has been a part of many active operations in South Kashmir. On Monday, as usual, Zoom was tasked to clear the house where the terrorists were hiding.
However, during the operation, Zoom was hit by two bullets and was seriously injured. Even after this, Zoom identified the terrorists and attacked them and fought the terrorists. This was the reason that two terrorists were killed in this encounter.
"Zoom identified and attacked the terrorists during which the canine received two gunshots," officials said.
After the encounter ended, Zoom was taken to the Army Veterinary Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment but later on succumbed to inuries. The officer said that two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in this encounter, while several soldiers were also injured.
