International Yoga Day 2021 LIVE: World Celebrates 7th International Day Of Yoga
International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 each year to highlight the importance of Yoga in rejuvenating our body, mind and soul. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 7th Yoga Day programme at around 6.30am. Due to restrictions on congregations amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the main event of the day will be a televised programme, and will be broadcasted on all Doordarshan channels. The theme of this year's Yoga Day is Yoga for wellness, which focuses on practicing Yoga for both physical and mental well being
Yoga sessions are not just limited to the borders of India, different parts of the world joined in to celebrate and practice Yoga together. Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts including children gathered in Rome, Naples & Vienna.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his Twitter to shared highlights from a yoga session along with Hon Ministers and MLAs at the campus of NHPC at Gerukamukh in Dhemaji today. He tweets, "Amid the Covid pandemic, Yoga, which is India's invaluable contribution to the world, boosts immunity, energy and positivity. We're grateful to Hon PM Sri Narendra Modi for taking the message of Yoga to the world. Yoga should become integral to our daily lives. Along with ensuring good health, it helps us attain good mental health as well. It gives us peace & contributes to making of a good society."
He briefly mentioned how the youth who are under the influence of drugs should embrace Yoga to overcome their addiction. "Youth should embrace yoga and reap its benefits. Some of our youth, who are under the bad influence of drugs, should also embrace yoga. Under Assam Yoga Prakalpa, yoga centres have been established in development blocks all over the state", he tweeted.

The Ministry of Culture is also slated to celebrate the International Day of Yoga at 75 cultural heritage locations across the country. Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel, will perform yoga at Delhi’s Red Fort on June 21, at 7 am, while other senior officials will conduct yoga camps at various monuments and forts, including the Agra Fort, Shanti Stupa in Ladakh, Ellora Caves in Maharashtra and Nalanda in Bihar. Considering the pandemic, the number of participants for the sessions has been restricted to 20 at each site.
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the lead event will be a televised programme, which will kick off with the Prime Minister’s speech at 6.30 am. It will also include an address by Minister of State for Ayush Kiren Rijiju and a demonstration by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, the Ayush Ministry said in a statement. The live yoga demonstration, which will be telecast on all Doordarshan channels, will be followed by messages from 15 spiritual leaders and yoga gurus, news agency ANI reported.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an event marking the seventh International Yoga Day on Monday morning. This year, the theme is ‘Yoga For Wellness’. Elaborating on it, PM Modi wrote on Twitter: “The theme this year is ‘Yoga For Wellness’, which focuses on practising Yoga for physical and mental wellbeing.”

The UN General Assembly in 2014 overwhelmingly adopted a draft resolution, declaring June 21 as International Yoga Day. A record 177 countries supported the resolution. Since then, Yoga Day is celebrated across World every year on June 21.
