Bengal Hanuman Temple 'Vandalised' In Birbhum, BJP Targets Mamata Govt: VIDEO

A Hanuman Temple in West Bengal's Birbhum district was allegedly vandalised, prompting condemnation from the Leader of Opposition and accusations of inaction against the government.

Amid the purported violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, a Hanuman Temple in Bengal's Birbhum district was allegedly vandalised on Thursday night. Sharing a video of the vandalism, West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari slammed the Mamata Banerjee government for alleged "inaction" against "anti-Hindu" miscreants.

The video showed the idol of Lord Hanuman on the ground with pieces of it scattered around. 

"Last night miscreants vandalised the Lord Hanuman Temple at Indragachha More, Purandarpur Gram Panchayat, Siuri - II Block, Birbhum District. They even desecrated Bajrangbali's Idol. Vandalism in Hindu Temples have now become an alarming trend in West Bengal. I am requesting Rajeev Kumar (IPS); DGP of West Bengal Police to arrest the culprits as quickly as possible," Adhikari said.

"The continuous reluctance of the West Bengal Police in taking action against miscreants who indulge in vandalism of Sanatani temples have emboldened them to target the Sanatani community over and over again. These criminals should be punished as per the provisions of the law to deter others in the future," he said.

The incident comes amid the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and the arrest of a Hindu priest from ISKCON, Chinmoy Das. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Thursday had thrown her weight behind the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government of India, saying that the Bengal government had "limited role" in the matter and said her government would stand by the Centre's decision on this.

Jansatta Dal Workers Arrested For Sending Memorandum To Bangladesh High Commission

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police arrested Jansatta Dal Democratic Party leader Kunwar Akshay Pratap Singh (Legislative Council Member) and hundreds of Jansatta Dal workers for sending a memorandum to the Bangladesh High Commission protesting  the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh and the targeted demolition of their properties and temples.

Before that, hundreds of Jansatta Dal workers, led by Kunwar Akshay Pratap Singh, marched on foot from the UP Bhawan towards the Bangladesh High Commission. Police tried to stop them by putting up barricades, but the workers broke through the barricades and started pushing and shoving with the police and started moving ahead. Later, the Delhi Police detained them.
