West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee To Visit SSKM Hospital Every Thursday To Monitor Works Undertaken
The Tata Medical centre is building two Cancer hospitals in the state one of which will be set up in Kolkata and the other in Siliguri.
Kolkata: Beginning today, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will make a visit to the SSKM hospital around 4 p.m. every thursday in order to check on the different works undertaken by the hospital. The visit will be made every fortnight.
Mamata also holds the portfolio of the Health & Family Welfare Department of the State Government.

Interestingly, on Thursday last week post her visit to SSKM, she said: “I will have a small office here (at SSKM) along with a conference room. The health secretary and the chief secretary will remain with me at times,” she also said. “We are setting up two cancer hospitals, one here and another in Siliguri.”

The department has been entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining and developing the health care system across the state. Public health, sanitation and hospitals come under the exclusive responsibilities of the State.
It also looks into the financial and managerial support for the basic health care support and infrastructural facilities at the rural level, while the State level super speciality Medical Colleges & Hospitals look into the ambulatory care services.
