Weather Update: IMD Predicts 'Dense Fog Conditions' Over Northern India For Next 2 Days

Weather update: IMD has predicted dense fog conditions for the upcoming two days for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.

New Delhi: In the latest update related to the weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted dense fog conditions in the isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during the next two days- February 4 and 5.

"Dense Fog conditions in isolated pockets in the night and morning hours very likely over Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on during next 2 days," according to a statement issued by the IMD on its official Twitter handle.

In the coming two days, many changes including rain, increase in temperature and strong wind are likely to be seen, said the IMD's prediction.

At present, the minimum temperature remains below normal. The fresh Western Disturbance, which is likely to affect Western Himalayas, will once again increase the minimum temperatures over Northwest India including Haryana, Delhi NCR.

The night temperature is likely to rise to touch 10.0 degrees Celsius in different parts of Haryana. There is a possibility of scattered rain on February 4. After the advance of the Western Disturbance and the end of the rainy activities, the minimum temperatures of Haryana, Delhi, and NCR may start declining once again, leading to the onset of cold winds in the morning and night. The day will once again become sunny with clear skies and the weather will be cool but pleasant, according to the latest report.

The overall Air Capital Index (AQI) in the national capital at 10 am stood at 318 i.e. in the very poor category, as per System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research's (SAFAR) estimates.

The AQI is likely to remain in the 'poor' to 'moderate' category on Friday and Saturday, according to the air quality and weather bulletin issued by the Ministry of Earth and Sciences.
