The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain and hailstorm warnings in numerous states throughout the nation. As the daily weather fluctuates between scorching heat and dark clouds bringing heavy rain, the weather bureau assures the country that the heatwave will not be a problem for the next three days.
"Due to Western disturbances a three-day orange alert for rainfall has been issued for almost the entirety of North India. Rainfall in Delhi too will continue for the next three days," said Dr Naresh Kumar, IMD's Senior Scientist.
Taking to Twitter, IMD stated: "Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain, gusty winds with speed of 30-40 km/h would occur over & adjoining areas of Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Light intensity rain/drizzle would occur over & adjoining areas of many places of Delhi during next 2 hours."
Following the continuous snowfall in Kedarnath Dham, the IMD issued a hailstorm and thunderstorm warning for Uttarakhand beginning Sunday for the next four days, according to a press release.
Enhanced thunderstorm activity likely to continue over the country from May 1 to 2, 2023, according to the Met deparment.
"Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over South India (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe) during 01st-03rd May and decrease thereafter," the IMD tweeted.
