Cloud Cover Over Delhi, Adjoining Areas As Light Rain Expected. IMD Issues Orange Alert In North East
According to the Indian Meteorological Department isolated rainfall is expected throughout the country with heavy rains in Meghalaya and Assam today.
New Delhi: Cloudy weather continued for a second day on Sunday in the national capital and adjoining areas and the weather department has predicted light intensity rain/drizzle in Delhi and the National Capital Region whereas thunderstorm with light-intensity rain has been forecast over and adjoining areas of Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
“Light intensity rain/drizzle would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi, New Delhi, South-West Delhi (Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Palam, IGI Airport), NCR ( Gurugram, Manesar) Hansi, Meham, Rohtak, Sohana (Haryana) Nandgaon, Barsana. Thunderstorms with light-intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Agra (U.P.) during the next 2 hours,” said the MeT department in a statement.
The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre has also issued a wet weather warning of a thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain for various areas of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana.
"Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Nuh, Hodal (Haryana) Nandgaon, Barsana, Jalesar, Firozabad, Shikohabad (U.P.)," RWFC, New Delhi said.
"Light-intensity rain or drizzle would occur over and adjoining areas of Sahaswan, Atrauli, Badaun, Khair, Aligarh, Kasganj, Iglas, Sikandra Rao, Raya, Hathras, Mathura, Etah, Sadabad, Tundla, Mainpuri, Agra (U.P.) Deeg (Rajasthan) during the next 2 hours," it added.
A western disturbance is approaching and due to this, an induced cyclonic circulation has formed over Rajasthan. As a result of the combined effect of both conditions,the state is receiving abundant moisture from the Bay of Bengal, said HP Chandra, Meteorologist, Raipur.

For most of the states, a yellow alert has been issued while an orange alert has been issued for north-eastern conditions, an IMD scientist, Soma Sen Roy, told the news agency.
An orange alert asks authorities concerned to "be prepared" to respond to any emergency situation arising out of weather change while the yellow alert signifies that the weather could change, and hence people should be vigilant.
