'We Live In A Country Where Ganga-Jamuni Tehzib Exists': Mehbooba Mufti On Temple Visit After BJP Called It 'Gimmick'
During Mehbooba Mufti's temple visit, she went around the entire temple and also offered water to the Shivling.
New Delhi: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday offered prayers at Navagraha temple during her visit to the Poonch district.
The People's Democratic Party Chief (PDF) was on a two-day visit to the Poonch district when she visited the temple. During her temple visit, she went around the entire temple and also offered water to the Shivling.
A social media user took to Twitter to share the video and captioned it, "PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti visited Navagraha temple."

Speaking to the media about her visit, Mufti said, "We live in a secular country where Ganga-jamuni tehjib exists. This temple was built by Yashpal Sharma & his son wanted me to go inside temple. After that, somebody gave me a vessel containing water, so it would have been wrong to deny it so I offered prayers."
Meanwhile, Mufti's temple visit was termed a "political gimmick" by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
BJP leader and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Kavinder Gupta said, "I have also just come from the temple but the news is about her (Mehbooba Mufti) because she is doing something different."
Taking a dig at the PDP chief, he further stated that these kinds of "drama and gimmickry" are very common when the elections are near.
"If they are really doing this with their whole heart then it's good. May god give them the wisdom to work for the country and Jammu and Kashmir. I hope they do not support Pakistan" Gupta said.
Talking about Mufti's visit, Udesh Pal Sharma, son of a late PDP leader said, "We are very happy that she visited the temple. She is former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. She visited the temple, offered prayers and offered water (jal) to lord Shiva. She has set a very big example by visiting the temple." "The former CM has given a message to the whole of Jammu and Kashmir that no one can destroy and harm the peace of J&K," he told ANI.
