WATCH: Massive Fire Engulfs Coast Guard Vessel ‘Coastal Jaguar’; 28 Crew Rescued
Vishkhapatnam: 28 of the 29 crew onboard have been rescued by the Indian Coast Guard. The search for 1 missing crew is currently underway.
New Delhi: An offshore support vessel Coastal Jaguar was engulfed by a massive fire on Monday morning in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, forcing all 29 of its crew members abandon it and jump into the sea to save themselves.
A total of 28 of the 29 crew onboard have been rescued by the Indian Coast Guard. The search for 1 missing crew is currently underway.
The fire took place at 11:30 am on Monday and the cause of it is yet to be ascertained.
According to a defence release, there was reportedly a loud explosion onboard the vessel at 11.30 AM and thick smoke emanated from it.
A Coast Guard ship 'Rani Rashmoni, which was in the area, was diverted to coordinate the rescue operations and it rescued the distressed crew.
News agency ANI shared the visuals of the incident.
