WATCH: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar sparks controversy over shocking 'rape statement', says minor arguments result into rape FIR

The BJP leader and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar speaking to the crowd mentioned how rapes usually happen and a mere scuffle provokes them to go file an FIR alleging rape.

NEW DELHI: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar created controversy at an event where he said that the number of rape cases has not increased as they not new to the society. He further added "80-90% occurs between people who already know each other. Most of the time these incidents happen between people who usually hang-out together, but one-day after minor arguments, they file an FIR- saying that this person raped me." It is said that Khattar made the statement on Thursday. In the shocking video shared by ANI, he can be seen saying “Sabse badi chinta yeh hai ki yeh ghatnayein jo hain rape aur Chhed chhad ki, 80-90% jankaro ke beech mein hoti hai. Kafi samay ke liye ikhatte ghumte hain, ek din anban hogai, uss din utha karke FIR karwa dete hain ‘isne mujhe rape kiya’”. Reacting to Khattar’s statement, Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “Anti-Women Mindset of Khattar Govt Exposed!”. On Twitter, he shared the video of Haryana Chief Minister’s speech and said “Blaming Women for complete failures to control Rapes & Gangrapes? Deplorable! CM should apologise”
