Independence Day 2022: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is celebrating 75th anniversary of India's independence along the country's border, including the banks of Pangong Tso in Ladakh. ITBP, India’s primary border patrol organisation, created a record of scaling 75 peaks simultaneously in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, under mission 'Amritarohan'. The 'Amritarohan' mountain excursion took place in a number of areas along the eastern front as India celebrates 76 years of independence.
In a video tweeted by news agency ANI, ITBP Jawans can be seen celebrating Independence Day at a mountain peak of 18,800 feet in Sikkim.
In another video, ITBP personnel are seen celebrating Independence Day at an altitude of 17,500 altitude above sea level in Uttarakhand.
Another video shows ITBP personnel marching along the banks of Pangong Tso lake, holding the Tricolour.
The peaks climbed by the ITBP Jawans are located in the vicinity of 75 ITBP border posts spread along the India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC). The ITBP have also started a 75-day 'Long relay Range Patrol (LRP)' by its troops along the 3,488-kilometre border of the LAC.
Established on 24 October, 1962, during India-China War, India’s primary border patrol organisation guards the nation’s 3,488-kilometre border in the Himalayas at the border observation posts (BOPs) located at altitudes ranging from 3,000 to 18,800 feet. Apart from guarding the border, the ITBP are deployed for anti-naxal operations and other internal security duties.
The spirit of the platinum jubilee is reflected by the celebratory motto 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, unfurled the Tricolour at the Red Fort to receive a ‘Rashtriya Salute’ followed by a customary address to the nation.
In his speech, Modi praised the spirit of soldiers fighting for the nation. It is Modi's ninth consecutive Independence Day speech.
Modi, said the country recently experienced the re-emergence of a 'collective consciousness'. For the last three days, all the people in the nation united as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, he said at the Red Fort. The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is a three-day campaign which started on August 11, 2022.
