New Delhi: Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, is once again winning hearts with his kindness. Scindia, who was in Romania to expedite evacuation of Indian nationals through Operation Ganga, was seen showing an affectionate gesture to a little girl in one of the evacuation flights.
A video of this interaction was shared on Twitter by Scindia, and also by ABP News journalist Vikas Bhadauria.
In the video shared by Bhadauria, Scindia is seen talking to a little girl. A man sitting next to the girl tells Scindia who her father is, and points to a man standing in the aisle.
Seeing the little girl sitting away from her family, Scindia asks, “Why aren’t you two sitting together?”. After this, the minister asks a passenger sitting next to the mother of the little girl to swap her seat with that of the little girl.
Scindia does so in order to make sure that the little girl can sit next to her mother in the aeroplane. He picks up the little girl and escorts her to a seat near her mother.
The mother thanks Scindia for his sweet gesture, and the little girl looks elated. Towards the end of the video, Scindia is seen saying “Welcome” in Ukrainian.
The little girl and her parents were among 155 passengers who flew from Bucharest to Delhi in an Air India flight, on March 7.
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the Indian government launched Operation Ganga to bring back stranded Indian nationals, including students, from the war-torn country. Operation Ganga also provides humanitarian assistance to Indian nationals who have crossed over to the neighbouring countries of Ukraine, which include Romania, Hungary, Poland, Moldova, and Slovakia.
The first step under Operation Ganga was taken on February 26. By March 6, about 16,000 Indians had been flown to India in 76 flights, through Operation Ganga.
