New Delhi: Ahead of the results of the assembly elections in Goa, stir in the Indian National Congress (INC) has intensified.

Congress leader Satej Patil, who is also Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home (Urban), has been entrusted with the responsibility of keeping Congress candidates together, according to ABP News sources.

In order to keep the Congress candidates together, they may be shifted to Kolhapur or Rajasthan. Patil is from Kolhapur and a member of the State Legislative Council of Maharashtra.

After the 2017 assembly elections in Goa, many Congress MLAs had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Despite becoming the single largest party, the Congress could not form the government in Goa.

Therefore, every step is being taken carefully this time.

ABP News-CVoter Exit Poll Results For 2022 Goa Assembly Elections

From the vote share percentage predicted by the ABP News-CVoter Exit Poll, the competition in the Goa assembly election 2022 appears to be between the BJP and the Congress. Though the BJP is slightly ahead, they are falling short of the majority mark of 21.

According to the range of seats projected by the ABP News-CVoter Exit Poll, the BJP is likely to get 13 to 17 seats, and the Congress is likely to get 12 to 16 seats.

The Congress emerged as the single largest party with 17 seats under its belt in the 2017 assembly elections in Goa. Meanwhile, the BJP got 13 seats. In terms of vote share, BJP triumphed Congress by winning 32.48 per cent of the total vote share, which was four per cent more than that of the Congress.

The BJP, however, managed to form the government as it claimed to have letters of support from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Independents, which took the tally up to 21 — the majority mark.
