Watch: BJP, Congress lock horns in Gully Boy-style; shares parody rap videos of 'Azadi' song

New Delhi: Social media war between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress is not a new thing to witness but this time the two mainstream political parties of the country have upped their game to a new level. BJP on Friday came up with a new video which was then followed by the Congress and both weaponising ‘rap music’ to target one another on social media. Both the parties released new parody videos from the rap song Azadi of Bollywood’s upcoming movie Gully Boy. Both Congress and BJP are battling it out in Ranveer Singh’s style who plays a rebellion song rapper in the movie. While the video must have been in the making at the same time, the battle fuelled up when BJP’s social media account tweeted the video first, set to the song Azadi (Freedom). It was then followed by the Congress party which shared the same video but with their own version. Though the movie releases on Valentine’s Day and has nothing to do with politics, but look like both BJP and Congress are already fans! BJP’s rap video starts with text ‘Congress se Azadi’ and then goes further with lines ‘Ghar mein hai chaar phir room tere 8 kyun’ with a news report that claims Sonia Gandhi stays in a larger house than Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “While @RahulGandhi will stay up all night wondering what new lies to peddle tomorrow morning, we leave you with this goal for 2019. Have a happy friday night, people! :),” BJP captioned the video while sharing on Twitter. Watch BJP's Azadi video here:

However, Congress's Azadi video starts with only Azadi text and further delves around Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of communal intolerance during the BJP’s rule. The Congress's Azadi video features the lines ‘Ye Saitaan hai insan nahi, dharam ke naam kaam nahi,’ and also displays images of Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha felicitating people accused of lynching a Muslim cattle trader. The infamous Azadi videos show two leading political parties highlighting the scams that took place in each other’s regime and the false claims made. The video from BJP talks about 2G Scam, Commonwealth scandal along with the ongoing crackdown of ED on Robert Vadra, while the Congress hits out at the saffron party by highlighting PM Modi’s link with businessmen like Adani and allegations against BJP President Amit Shah’s son. Last year in August, both BJP and Congress had released videos explaining the Rafale jet aircraft deal. Even Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had also released a similar video. So, perhaps, Bollywood songs have turned out to be new weaponry for political parties and we can expect more Azadi videos as the country heads close to 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
