Viral Sach: Mangoes in market sprayed with harmful chemical for ripening them?
A video in which it is claimed that mangoes in markets are sprayed with toxic chemicals is going viral. Viral Sach finds the truth.
New Delhi: A video is going viral on social media, in which a mango-seller is seen spraying chemicals allegedly carbide on his fruits.
The video is followed with a message which claims that the mangoes in market are ripened with the use of carbide chemicals which are toxic for health, in order to make them ripe.
To know whether the claims are true or not, team Viral Sach of ABP News investigated the matter.
Upon investigation we found that although the mangoes are sprayed with chemicals for ripening them, but it is not carbide. The fruit merchants are using etheral for ripening the fruits which are safe but only in a required proportion with water.
Contact with the chemical can cause burning sensation, eyesight problems and other diseases.
10 ml etheral should be mixed with 10 litres of water and then sprayed on the lot of fruits.
Therefore it is true that mangoes are being sprayed with chemicals but is the chemical being used in safe or unsafe amount this cannot be said from the video.
