Uttarakhand Rain Alert: Kedarnath Yatra Temporarily Suspended, CM Dhami Issues Directives To Officials
Following a two-day high alert by the Meteorological department, the district administration has temporarily suspended Kedarnath yatra in view of the safety of the devotees.
Uttarakhand Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in the majority of hilly areas including Chardham in Uttarakhand for next two to three days.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the disaster management department, police administration, and all district magistrates to remain on alert.
Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Department of Disaster Management has appealed to all local residents and travelers to maintain vigil, distance from river drains and stay in safe places following the warning. Passengers travelling to and from Uttarakhand are also requested to plan their journey in view of the weather warning and have been appealed to avoid travelling during this period.
In view of heavy rains in Uttarakhand, CM inquired about situation in the state from the Chief Secy. CM directed that police, SDRF & other concerned personnel should be kept on high alert at sensitive places. Kedarnath yatra stopped
Following a two-day high alert by the Meteorological department, the district administration has temporarily suspended Kedarnath yatra in view of the safety of the devotees.
Pilgrims are being stopped at Sonprayag and advised to stay in safe places. In addition, police and district administration teams are also deployed at various stops, which are giving weather information to the passengers.
The journey will now be resumed when the weather gets back to normal.
