Uttarakhand: Kejriwal Launches AAP's Election Campaign In Dehradun, Makes 4 Major Promises Regarding Electricity

A day before his visit to poll-bound Uttarakhand, Arvind Kejriwal had asked why the people of the hill state, which generates electricity, cannot get free power like in the national capital.

Dehradun: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reached Uttarakhand's capital city Dehradun on Sunday starting the campaign for the assembly election slated to take place next year.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to contest the assembly polls in the state due next year.

"Leaders of Uttarakhand have left no stone unturned to destroy the state. Both parties have made an arrangement from 2000 to loot the state after the other. The ruling party doesn't have CM. For the first time in 70 years a party says its CM is useless," Kejriwal alleged in reference to the recent political crisis in the state as Uttarakhand got its third CM in a span of four months.

The Aam Aadmi Party national convenor said that the opposition doesn't have a leader. "They are coming to Delhi for the past month to select a leader. Who will think about the development of Uttarakhand residents? Are these parties concerned about the people of U'khand? They do not care. They are only fighting for power," he claimed.

Beginning the campaign call that the work that Uttarakhand missed out on for 70 years, has been completed in Delhi. "U'khand has decided to bring AAP to the state. I would like to give them faith that we will build good schools and work on electricity, water, farming and more," the Delhi CM said.

A day before his visit to poll-bound Uttarakhand, Arvind Kejriwal had asked why the people of the hill state, which generates electricity, cannot get free power like in the national capital.

Bringing up the issue of electricity he "guaranteed" four things. "After our government is made, we will provide 300 units of free electricity. Farmers will receive free electricity. Old bills will be waived off. It will take some time to provide 24-hour electricity, but we will do it," he committed.

Responding to Kejriwal's remarks on electricity supply, BJP national spokesperson Dushyant Gautam slammed the Delhi Chief Minister and said that the AAP chief does not want to see Uttarakhand progressing.

"Kejriwal had talked about free water, today there is no water for drinking in Delhi while liquor is being provided door to door. The Yamuna is lying dirty. He had promised to recover the river in five years but nothing has been done," he said, questioning Kejriwal on his previous promises of delivering free water to the people of the national capital.

Besides Uttarakhand, AAP and its chief are also raking up the issue of electricity supply in Punjab which will also undergo election next year. Arvind Kejriwal promised 300 units of free electricity in the state if his party wins the polls.
