U'khand: 11 People Still Trapped Under Debris After Landslides. Dhami To Donate Month's Salary To CM Relief Funds

In recent times' incessant rainfall, major landslides, houses being washed away, and many other scenes at Uttarakhand have created havoc for the locals.

New Delhi: In view of the natural calamity due to heavy torrential rains, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced to donate his one month salary to the Chief Minister Relief Funds, ANI reported.

In recent times' incessant rainfall, major landslides, houses being washed away, and many other scenes at Uttarakhand have created havoc for the locals.

As per the ANI report, the death toll in the state has risen to 64 whereas 11 people are still trapped under the rubble after landslides.

"Bodies of 7 trekkers recovered, 2 rescued and 2 remain missing out of a group of 11 trekkers which had gone missing in Harsil. 5 more bodies of trekkers from another group of 11 trekkers which went missing near Lamkhaga Pass also retrieved": Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said, as reported by ANI.

For the victims affected due to floods in Rudrapur city, a disaster relief camp has been set up by the Uttarakhand Police in collaboration with the State Disaster Management Force (SDRF). On the instructions from the Uttarakhand CM, people are being provided with food along with various other medical facilities as part of the relief camp.

On Friday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) was able to rescue a survivor and recover five mortal remains from nearly 16500-feet altitude near Lamkhaga Pass in Uttarakhand. Despite unfavourable conditions, IAF's Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) were deployed to conduct the search operation.

Earlier on Thursday, in wake of the incessant rains and cloudbursts in the state, Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with the state CM conducted an aerial survey of rain-affected areas of Uttarakhand and applauded the effective coordination between various agencies to contain the damage amidst such calamities.

According to a rough estimate, around 100 pilgrims from different parts of Gujarat who had gone to Uttarakhand for the Chardham Yatra were stranded following heavy rains and landslides, Gujarat Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi said.
