Pratapgarh Accident: In a major road mishap in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh, fourteen people of the same family died after the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a truck on the Prayagraj-Lucknow highway.

Those dead included six children of the family. The accident took place at a spot on the highway that falls under  limits of Manikpur police station last night, news agency ANI has reported.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the Pratapgarh road accident. He has directed senior officials to reach the spot and provide all possible help to victims, said the Chief Minister’s Office.

Chief Minister Yogi later  announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs each to next of the kin of the deceased, who lost their lives in the Pratapgarh road accident.

All 14 occupants of the Bolero car were reportedly part of a marriage party and were returning from Sheikhpur village in Nababganj, reports have said.

All the people riding in the jeep were coming back home after attending a wedding ceremony. The vehicle was so badly caught up in the truck that it was cut off with the help of Gas cutter. The rescue operation lasted for about two to three hours. At present, the police have recovered all the dead bodies and sent them for postmortem.
