UP Police 'thain thain' encounter: Cop to be rewarded for his 'act of bravery'
During the encounter on 12th October, the cop Manoj Kumar’s revolver got jammed in the middle of an encounter in Sambhal and so he shouted “Thain Thain” to scare the criminals.
NEW DELHI: In a peculiar encounter where Uttar Pradesh police personnel shouted “thain thain” in a bid to imitate gunshots and scare criminals after his gun stopped working, the UP Police has decided to give a rewarded to the Sambhal police personnel.
While many trolled Kumar, the UP police department called Manoj Kumar's action an “act of bravery”. Sambhal SP Yamuna Prasad, in a letter, praised Manoj and said that even in the absence of arms, Manoj did not get scared and tried to scare the goons his voice.
During the encounter on 12th October, SHO Manoj Kumar’s revolver got jammed in the middle of an encounter in Sambhal and so he shouted “thain thain” to scare the criminals. He was heard shouting “Maaro Maaro, ghero ghero, Thain Thain.” It was later reported that in the same encounter a criminal was arrested after being shot at in the leg.
Later, the ASP told media that the pistol got jammed due to a technical glitch. He further said, words like 'maaro, maaro, ghero, ghero' create mental pressure on the criminals.
The video was shot by one of the fellow constables during the encounter which has now gone viral on social media sites.
