UP: PM Modi dedicates Bansagar Canal Project to nation in Mirzapur, hits out at previous govts for incomplete projects

PM Modi said that the previous governments used to come up with incomplete projects and stall them, due to which common man had to suffer.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his second-day visit to eastern Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated various development projects in Mirzapur on Sunday. He dedicated the Bansagar canal project to the nation from Mirzapur and laid the foundation stone of Mirzapur Medical College. Prime Minister on Friday had informed that this project will provide a big boost to irrigation in the region, and will be greatly beneficial for the farmers of Mirzapur and Allahabad districts of the state. PM also addressed the people a public gathering and took a jibe at previous governments in the state. PM said that the previous governments used to come up with incomplete projects and stall them, due to which common man had to suffer. "You are the people who suffered through all of that. Had this project been completed beforehand, you would have been benefitted by it two decades back," PM Narendra Modi said. He further hit out at the Opposition saying that those who are shedding crocodile tears for farmers today should be asked why did they not see irrigation projects which were left incomplete throughout the nation, during their tenure. "Those who are indulging in politics in the name of farmers had no time to raise the prices of MSP (Minimum Support Price). They sat on files," PM said. Mirzapur is the Lok Sabha constituency is represented by Apna Dal, which holds 2 Lok Sabha seats. PM's visit to the place is also seen as a sign of further cementing of the ties between the two NDA partners. While addressing the rally, PM Modi said that since the time BJP-NDA government has come to power the development work in Purvanchal has accelerated and its results can be seen by everyone today.
