New Delhi: Soon after Rajasthan government passed an order to seal its borders with other states, a sudden panic amongst the citizens was witnessed forcing the authorities to partially withdrew its decision and allow movement through its borders, but with relevant permissions. The Congress-led government in Rajasthan decided to regulate the interstate movement and issued a notification which read that no person can enter the state without a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from the state nor can anyone leave with a pass.

As per reports, the order states that the airports and railway stations too shall come under the ambit of the checking. Interstate movement of buses would not be affected due to the recent order.

"District collectors and superintendents of police will be the authorities for issuing passes and only emergency cases like hospitalisation or death may be exempted," the order read.

The decision was taken keeping in view the rapid rise in the tally of Coronavirus in the state. Instructions have been given to set up check-posts on inter-state borders to stop the entry and exit of people. Both entry and exit will now require a valid pass.

The order seeks to establish immediate check points at bus stops, railway stations and airports to ensure that nobody can enter the state without a valid pass. Rajasthan shares borders with states like Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Rajasthan is the sixth worst-hit state of India in terms of infections, after Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, as per the data of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

123 fresh cases of the infections were reported in 24 hours which pushed the state's tally to 11,368. It reported one more  fatality on Wednesday, taking the death toll  to 256. The death was reported in Jodhpur.


Of the fresh cases, 40 were reported in Jaipur, 34 in Bharatpur, 11 in Sikar, nine in Jhunjhunu, five in Nagaur, three in Kota and two in Alwar, besides cases in other districts, they said.

Jaipur topped the Covid tally in the state with 2,500 cases and 118 deaths, followed by 1,944 cases and 26 deaths in Jodhpur. There are 2,610 active Covid-19 cases in the state. A total of 8,152 patients have been discharged after treatment, as per official figures.
