Coronavirus In India: A spurt of nearly 10,000 fresh cases in 24 hours, took India’s total Covid-19 cases to over 2.75 lakhs on Wednesday.As per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare  (MoHFW) 9985 new Covid-19 cases and 279 deaths have been reported in last 24 hours. The surge has taken the number of total positive cases in India to 276583, which includes 133632 active cases and 135206 cured/discharged or migrated patients. The death toll of the country has spiked up to 7,745.

With 90,787 cases, Maharashtra reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country followed by Tamil Nadu with 34,914 cases.

On Tuesday, India witnessed a record surge in its Coronavirus cases with 9987 fresh cases and 331 deaths, taking the total number of cases to 2,66,598.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,45,216 samples were tested in the last 24 hours while overall 50,61,332 samples have been tested so far.

On the brighter side:

The total number of cured, discharged patients has outnumbered the active cases by a difference of 1,574 cases. The total number of cured or discharged patients by Wednesday was recorded at 1,35,206 while total active cases count was 1,33,632.

It should be noted that the total count is inclusive of active cases, cured cases, migrated ones and those who succumbed to the infection.



India is at fifth position in the world, in terms of maximum number of cases, while at the twelfth position in terms of death toll.  Total number of cases in the world so far is 7,039,918, as per the World Health Organization, while deaths so far has reached 404, 396.
