Unlock 1: Delhi-Noida Border To Remain Sealed, 42% COVID-19 Cases From National Capital

New Delhi: Due to the increasing number of Coronavirus cases in the district, Gautam Buddha Nagar administration, on Sunday, decided to keep the Delhi Noida border sealed. The administration said in a statement that most of the cases in the city are due to the national capital, therefore, the movement from Delhi to Noida will remain restricted. "The health department has reported that out of the total coronavirus cases detected in Noida in the last 20 days, 42 percent have links to Delhi. After a discussion with the health and police departments, it has been decided that the status quo must be maintained at the Delhi-Noida border," the statement read. However, people in essential services will no longer require passes to move between the borders now. The Centre issued guidelines for the country on Saturday which stated that no separate permission, approval, or e-permit will be required for inter-state or intra-state movement of people and goods. If a state or Union Territory decides to regulate movement, it will have to publicize its decision in advance. The Noida administration, in its Unlock 1 guidelines, also issued fresh rules for housing societies. Unlike before, if an individual tower reports coronavirus cases, the entire society will not be sealed. "In multi-storey residential buildings, only those towers that report coronavirus cases will be declared containment zones. If more than one tower report coronavirus cases, all of them will be considered containment zones; all the services like parks, gym, swimming pool, banquet halls, etc will also be considered to be under containment zones," it said. According to the administration, nine people have been found positive for COVID-19 on Sunday and total positive cases to date stand at 414. A total of 294 patients has recovered so far. The number of active cases in the city is 113 The Uttar Pradesh government had left the decision of opening borders with Delhi on the Ghaziabad and Noida administrations. The Centre has extended the coronavirus lockdown till June 30 but has allowed malls, restaurants, and religious places to reopen from June 8 except in containment zones.
