Union Minister JP Nadda Named Leader Of House In Rajya Sabha
Union Minister JP Nadda was appointed as the Leader Of House In Rajya Sabha today.
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has been appointed as the Leader Of House In Rajya Sabha. The BJP national president has replaced the former Rajya Sabha House leader Piyush Goyal, who entered the Lok Sabha this year after winning the general elections this year from the Mumbai North constituency. In April, Nadda was elected as the Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat.
Goyal, who has been re-appointed as the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the second time, was elected as the Rajya Sabha MP in 2010 on. However, he was declared the Leader of the House on July 14, 2021, during PM Modi's second tenure.
After being elected as the Lok Sabha MP on June 4, Goyal was sworn in as the member of the Lower House today, i.e., June 24.
After being sworn in as the Union Minister, there was speculation Nadda would step down from his BJP National President post. This post was previously held by current Union Home Minister Amit Shah in 2020. The new party president is likely to be elected in December-January.

The Union Health ministe holds a degree in law and began his political journey with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students' wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
RSS is the ideological mentor of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 1991, he became the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, BJP's youth wing.
It was in 2021 that Nadda was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh. When Amit Shah took over as the president of BJP, Nadda was appointed as a member of the BJP's parliamentary board in 2014.
Apart from being an MP from Himachal, he had also served as an MLA in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly. The BJP national president won the Bilaspur seat thrice in 1993, 1998, and 2007.
He also holds experience of serving as the Health Minister, a post he held between 1998 and 2003.
