Ukraine Conflict: Indian Student Shot At And Injured In Kyiv To Reach India Tomorrow, Says VK Singh

Harjot, a native of Chhatarpur in Delhi, is a student in Kyiv learning the language and worked as an IT specialist before the conflict began. 

New Delhi: An Indian student, Harjot Singh, who was shot at in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, will return home tomorrow under the ‘Operation Ganga’, tweeted Union Minister General VK Singh on Tuesday. 

“Harjot Singh is the Indian who was shot during the war in Kyiv. His passport was also lost in the chaos.Glad to inform that Harjot is reaching India with us tomorrow. Hope there is a speedy recovery with home food and care,” tweeted the Minister who is in Poland. He is one of the four ministers sent as special envoys to overlook the evacuation process of Indians who reach the bordering countries from Ukraine. 

 

Last month Harjot was trying to escape from Kyiv to Lviv via train but was unable to board as Ukrainian troops stopped him. He then took a taxi, with two other boys, when he was shot at multiple times and his leg got fractured.

Meanwhile, fresh advisories are issued by the Indian Embassy in Hungary and Ukraine for the Indian nationals.

Taking to their Twitter handles, the embassies in Hungary and Ukraine asked the stranded students staying in their own accommodations to reach the Hungary City Centre in Budapest between 10am and noon and also fill out a Google form on an ‘urgent basis’.

“Important Announcement: Embassy of India begins its last leg of Operation Ganga flights today. All those students staying in their OWN accommodation ( other than arranged by Embassy) are requested to reach  @Hungariacitycentre , Rakoczi Ut 90, Budapest “10 am-12 pm” plz note !” tweeted the Indian Embassy in Hungary.
