Uday Bhanu Chib Replaces Srinivas B V As Indian Youth Congress President

Congress has appointed Uday Bhanu Chib as the new president of Indian Youth Congress, succeeding Srinivas B V, who held the position for over five years.

New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) The Congress on Sunday appointed Uday Bhanu Chib as the president of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), replacing Srinivas B V.

Srinivas B V had held the post for over five years and his tenure was seen as an eventful one for IYC with his relief work during the Covid pandemic being a major talking point in the media.

Chib was serving as the general secretary of IYC and is a former president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Uday Bhanu Chib as the president of the Indian Youth Congress with immediate effect, a party statement said.

The party appreciates the contributions of the outgoing president Srinivas B V, it added.

On Friday, Chib had posted a picture with Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and wrote, "A memorable meet with my leader @RahulGandhi ji! Your struggle and perseverance for social justice is an inspiration to all of us." Chib hails from Paloura, Jammu, and is the son of Congress leader Hari Singh Chib.

Cong appoints Subhankar Sarkar as president of its West Bengal unit

The Congress on Saturday appointed Subhankar Sarkar as the president of its West Bengal unit, replacing Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

Sarkar has been relieved from his current position as AICC Secretary.

In a statement, the party said its president Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Sarkar as the chief of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect.

The party appreciates the contributions of outgoing PCC president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the statement added.

Sarkar was the All India Congress Committee secretary looking after the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Mizoram.

Chowdhury had resigned as the president of the West Bengal Congress Committee after the Lok Sabha polls and the process of appointing a new chief of the state unit was underway.

The Congress leadership had taken feedback from state leaders on maintaining the balance in ties with the Trinamool Congress at the national and state levels, as well as on the choice of the next chief of the grand old party's West Bengal unit.

The Congress' state leadership, especially Chowdhury has been at variance with the coordination and support seen between the Congress and the TMC at the central level.
