Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey triggers outrage in India for posing with anti-brahmin poster; Here's how people react

In the picture, chief of the platform can be seen posing with other women and holding a placard that reads: ‘Smash Brahminical patriarchy’.

New Delhi: Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey this week was at the receiving end after a picture of him holding a placard went viral on the micro-blogging platform. In the picture, chief of the platform can be seen posing with other women and holding a placard that reads: ‘Smash Brahminical patriarchy’. The picture was clicked during Dorsey’s India visit during his closed-door roundtable with women journalists of the country. However, soon after the image was shared by one of the journalists present there, the picture spread like fire and avid Hindu supporters started trolling the event and even the Twitter boss. However, the micro-blogging site soon issued the statement clarifying the incident, but it was too late by then. Twitter, through a tweet, said that CEO Dorsey had been participating in the closed-door interaction with women journalists sharing the experience of using Twitter, Later, one the panel member, who was a Dalit journalist, gifted him the poster. The social networking platform also added that the placard was not a statement by Twitter or its CEO but rather an attempt hearing the diverse voices that are part of society. Here's how some downhearted Twitters users in India expressed their disappointment over Dorsey's controversial picture: Even the Former Infosys director TV Mohandas Pai accused the Twitter CEO of participating in a hate campaign against Brahmins. Here's what he tweeted: Indian Twitter users questioned Dorsey for holding such a poster which targets one group considering he had not made any such statements through the visit. Earlier this month, the Twitter founder even met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The two discussed the importance of social media platforms in today's time and also reportedly discussed about company's investment plans in India.
