Times Group Chairperson Indu Jain Passes Away After Covid Complications; PM Modi Offers Condolences
Indu Jain was awarded the country’s third highest civilian honour Padma Vibhushan in 2016.
New Delhi: Times Group chairperson Indu Jain on Thursday breathed her last due to complications arising out of the Covid-19 infection in Delhi at the age of 84.
Jain was Chairperson of The Times Group and The Times Foundation, which she founded. The Times Foundation runs Community Services, Research Foundation and Times Relief Fund for disaster reliefs like floods, cyclones, earthquakes and epidemics.
She was also the founder president of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO). Jain was also the chairperson of Bharatiya Jnanpith Trust, which awards the prestigious Jnanpith award.
She was awarded the country’s third highest civilian honour Padma Vibhushan in 2016.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the Times Group chairperson’s demise and said “she will be remembered for her community service initiatives, passion towards India’s progress and deep-rooted interest in our culture”.
“Saddened by the demise of Times Group Chairperson Smt. Indu Jain Ji. She will be remembered for her community service initiatives, passion towards India’s progress and deep-rooted interest in our culture. I recall my interactions with her. Condolences to her family. Om Shanti,” he tweeted.
