Telangana: Woman Dies By Suicide Over 'Fear Of House Demolition By HYDRAA'
While confirming that a survey had been conducted in the area, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HYDRAA) authorities made it clear that her house was not marked for demolition.
A woman reportedly took her own life, allegedly due to the fear of her house being demolished by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HYDRAA) authorities at Kukatpally, Hyderabad. The authorities have been carrying out demolitions of unauthorized structures in areas near water bodies, including Kukatpally, which reportedly led Buchamma to fear that her family's residence might be at risk.
The deceased Buchamma, a resident of Yadav Basti, Kukatpally, lived with her husband G. Shivaiah and had gifted the house to her three daughters as dowry. With ongoing demolition activities in the neighborhood, she became increasingly anxious about the future of the house, according to a report on Telangana Today. This fear, according to family members, drove her to the extreme step of hanging herself.
However, local officials have refuted the claim that the house was under any immediate threat. HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath told Telangana Today that no official demolition notice had been issued to Buchamma’s property. While confirming that a survey had been conducted in the area, the authorities made it clear that her house was not marked for demolition. The commissioner further added that the woman's fears appeared to stem from conversations with her daughters, who were worried about the situation.
BRS leader Krishank took to X to share about the incident on social media, claiming that Buchamma’s death was tied to her fear of losing the house. Krishank said, "Old Lady commits suicide after CM Revanth’s HYDRA gives Notice to demolish her House."
