Tej Pratap Yadav attends Winter Session on last day; Avoids Rabri, brother Tejashwi

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav made his first appearance at the state assembly on the final day for the Winter Session.

New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav made his first appearance at the state assembly on the final day for the Winter Session. However, the young leader, who is reportedly having some dissent with his family, did not meet either mother Rabri Devi or brother Tejaswi Yadav. This was the first and the only time that the Mahua MLA made his presence at the winter session which ended on November 30. It is been speculated that Tej Pratap Yadav upset with his family for supporting him in his decision to part ways for his wife Aishwarya Rai. Tej Pratap, last month, filed a divorce petition with his wife and said that he married under family pressure and they were incompatible as a couple. The MLA from Bihar has kept away from his family as well as politics since he filed for divorce on November 3. On the last day of the Winter Session, Tej Pratap came to the Vidhan Sabha wearing a white dhoti and kurta and an off-white waistcoat besides sporting a red tilak on his forehead. He avoided crossing paths with his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, who is the Leader of the Opposition, as well as mother Rabri Devi, who occupies the same position in the legislative council hinting dispute in the family over the divorce issue. Tej Pratap Speaking to reporters after the session adjourned, Tej Pratap said, "Bihar is in turmoil. The opposition has to do whatever is possible to draw the attention of the government towards the plight of the people." However, the RJD leader did not answer the queries about his ongoing marital strife. Tej Pratap is currently putting up at a hotel and while appearing before the court on Thursday in connection with the divorce petition, he admitted that he had not visited his home nor met any member of his family. Known for his volatile disposition, Tej Pratap's decision to seek divorce from Aishwarya Rai, his wife of six months, has not gone down well with his parents and siblings. The court had posted the matter for further hearing on January 8, 2019. Last month he had made it clear that he would not return home until his family come out in support of his decision.
