Swachh Survekshan 2020 Results : Indore has bagged the cleanest city title for the fourth time in a row.

Swachh Survekshan 2020 Results: The winners of Swachh Survekshan 2020 survey of India has been announced. Indore is India's cleanest city in Swachh Survekshan 2020, the fifth edition of the annual cleanliness survey of the country.  A total of 1.9 crore citizens across 4,242 cities of the country participated in the survey. Interestingly, the city has bagged the spot fourth time in a row. Gujarat's Surat on second spot and Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai on third. 'India’s Cleanest Cantonment Board' award was given to Jalandhar cantonment from Punjab and 'Best Ganga Town' award was given to Varanasi. In terms of maximum citizen participation award. in the category of population of over 1 lakh award was given to Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A total of 6 cities (Indore, Ambikapur, Navi Mumbai, Surat, Rajkot and Mysuru) have been rated as 5-star cities, 86 cities have been rated 3-Star and 64 cities have been rated 1-Star, as per Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' Star Rating Protocol for Garbage Free Cities. In the virtual programme called ‘Swachh Mahotsav’as many as 129 top performing cities and states were awarded by Minister of Civil Aviation of India Hardeep Singh Puri. PM Modi, who was originally supposed to announce the results, could not attend the event. Indore's annual earnings through waste processing: During 2019-20, the city civic body's earnings from the processing of wet and dry garbage increased by 50 per cent to nearly Rs six crore, said Asad Warsi, the Centre's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan's adviser for Indore Municipal Corporation, was quoted as saying by PTI.  In FY 2018-19, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) had generated about Rs four crore from garbage processing.
