Bharatiya Janta Party MP Rajyavardhan Rathore has demanded that Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi should be tried for 'treason' for making a 'secret deal with China'. He claimed that during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Congress party did a 'secret' agreement with the Communist Party of China. Rathore said that it was a deal between two parties, not countries. The BJP MP alleged that Rahul Gandhi signed an agreement with the-then General Secretary Xi Jinping (now President of China) in a 'secretive' way.
"I was at the 2008 Beijing Olympics (in China). We came to know that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are coming to meet us. They didn't come to meet us. They met the Communist Party of China...Now why they should not be tried for treason? They should definitely be tried for treason and I stand on my words," he said.
He asked what did Congress party sign for in China in 2008, adding that India wants to know it. His statement came in response to the twee of Congress leader Ajay Maken who requested the floor leaders to initiate breach of privilege proceedings against Rajyavardhan Rathore.
Maken shared an image of an article that states that Sonia Gandhi met Indian athletes and also gave them her regards during 2008 Beijing Olympics.
"As a former Sports Minister, I am asking Rajyavardhan Rathore, if the attached news is true. If true, as a former Speaker of Delhi Legislative Assembly, I request our floor leaders to initiate breach of privilege proceedings against Sh. Rathore," he said in the tweet.
Notably, Rathore said that Sonia Gandhi's vehicle stopped for two minutes on the road and then went back.
