Sonali Phogat Case: Drug Peddler, Owner Of Resort Detained. CM Sawant Says Guilty Will Be Punished By Goa Police
Sudhir Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder Singh were arrested on Friday after the police accessed the CCTV footage of the accused and the deceased partying at the club.
The Goa police Saturday detained owner of Curlies beach shack, where actor and BJP leader Sonali Phogat died in mysterious circumstances. A drug peddler Dattprashad Gaonkar has also been arrested, reported news agency ANI. Gaonkar had supplied drugs to accused Sukhwinder Singh.
The total number of arrests made in the Haryana BJP leader's death case stands at four now.
Sudhir Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder Singh were arrested on Friday after the police accessed the CCTV footage of the accused and the deceased partying at the club.
"On the basis of CCTV footage, it was seen that the accused Sudhir Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder Singh were partying with the deceased at a club. A video establishes that one of them forcefully made the victim consume a substance," Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi said.
Both the accused had travelled to Goa along with Phogat on August 22. They had mixed some chemical in water and forced Phogat to drink it leading to her death.
"When confronted, Sukhwinder and Sudhir confessed that they intentionally mixed an obnoxious chemical into a liquid and made the victim drink it," IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi said, as reported by ANI.
Sudhir Sangwan was the personal trainer of Sonali Phogat.
The 42-year-old TikTok star was brought dead to St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North Goa district on August 23 morning from her hotel.
Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister CM Pramod Sawant while speaking to ANI on Saturday said that guilty will not be spared.

Earlier, Phogat's brother Rinku Dhaka had filed a complaint alleging she was murdered by Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh who intended "to take over her properties and financial assets to finish her political career."
