10 Injured After Shuttle Bus Ferrying Passengers Hits Pillar At Bengaluru Airport
A shuttle bus carrying 15 passengers and 22 crew members crashed into a pole at the Kempegowda international airport, and 10 people were injured.
Ten people were left injured when a shuttle bus carrying them from Terminal-1 to 2 of the Kempegowda international airport crashed into a pillar early on Sunday, said airport authorities. After the incident, all 10 passengers, who were injured were taken to the hospital for immediate medical treatment. Five of them have already been discharged from the hospital, said the airport officials. In a video posted by news agency PTI on Twitter, the front part of the bus could be seen as badly damaged with window panes destroyed.

Officials further said, as quoted by PTI, "On June 18, 2023, at approximately 5.15 AM, a shuttle bus operating between T1 and T2 of the BLR airport collided with a pole near the T2 arrival exit road, resulting in minor injuries to 10 people.”
During the time of the incident, there were a total of 17 passengers including 2 crew members on the bus. In an official statement, Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) said: “The injured have been taken to hospital for immediate medical treatment.”
The spokesperson also said, "AISATS operates the shuttle services at the airport as per the service contract awarded to them by BIAL. We are working with the operator to investigate the matter and will take all necessary mitigating measures as per the agreement.”
The authorities are currently investigating the matter to find out the exact cause of the incident. Meanwhile, AISATS issued a statement regretting the incident.
The operator said, "We deeply regret the incident involving a shuttle bus carrying 15 passengers and 2 staff members that collided with a pole while operating between Terminals 1 and 2 at BLR Airport.”
The operator further mentioned, “While six passengers were hospitalised for minor injuries to ensure they receive the best care, the remaining passengers continued to their respective destinations after undergoing a thorough inspection by the medical team,” as quoted by PTI.
They added that the well-being and safety of passengers and staff are top priorities at present and assured all support to the authorities for further investigations.
