Mumbai: After the crucial late-night meeting of NCP-Shiv Sena at Sharad Pawar's residence yesterday, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday declared that Maharashtra will have a Shiv Sena Chief Minister for next five years. Talking to reporters, Raut said that a new government in Maharashtra should be formed in next two days.
The Shiv Sena leader also said that his party won't side with BJP even if offered Lord Indra's throne, reiterating that Shiv Sena will get Maharashtra CM's post when three-party alliance with Congress, NCP assumes power.
"The time for offers has ended," Raut said, when asked about reports that the BJP had agreed to share the CM's post with the Sena.
"People of Maharashtra want Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to become the CM," he said.
Asked if the three non-BJP parties would meet the state governor on Friday itself, Raut quipped, "Why meet the governor when the President's rule is in place".
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar had a late-night meeting with Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday. The crucial meeting, took place at Sharad Pawar's residence Silver Oak in South Mumbai where Thackeray was accompanied by his son Aaditya and party MP Sanjay Raut.
A recent update states that the three parties have arrived at a consensus over Sena holding the chief minister’s post for the full five-year term, with two deputy chief ministers each from NCP and Congress.
Inching towards forming the Maharashtra government, the three parties alliance - likely to be christened 'Maha Vikas Aghadi', will be formally announced and they would soon stake the claim to form the government.
Speaking to ABP News, Sena leader Sanjay Raut had earlier said that chief minister of Maharashtra will be from his party and also claimed that the government will be formed before December. He also said that it is most likely we would go to Raj Bhawan to stake claim to form the government on Satuday. "Maharashtra is most likely to get a government on Saturday, Raut said denying the reports of rotational CM agreement will NCP and Congress.
According to sources, distribution of ministries would be done with a calculation of one minister for every four MLAs. This means, Shiv Sena which has 56 MLAs will get 14 ministries, NCP which has 54 MLAs will get 14 ministries and Congress which has 44 MLAs will get 11 ministries. Remaining 3 ministries will be equally divided amongst the three alliance partners.
