The Election Commission's decision in favour of the Ajit Pawar-led faction was issued on February 7, and the Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the name given to the Sharad Pawar camp would stand until further orders.
Hearing a petition from the Sharad Pawar camp challenging the February 7 order, the bench granted the NCP founder the right to approach the Election Commission for the symbol. It also directed the poll panel to assign the symbol within a week of the Sharad Pawar camp applying for it.
