SGPC Demands Action Against Congress Worker Wearing Jagdish Tytler T-shirt At Golden Temple

Later, Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Assistant Secretary (Media) said that on the instruction of SGPC President Dhami, a police complaint has been filed against Karamjit Singh.

New Delhi: The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday strongly condemned the act of a Congress worker who wore a T-shirt bearing an image of party leader Jagdish Tytler to the Golden Temple and got a photograph clicked inside the premises. Harjinder Singh Dhami, SGPC President said that a police complaint will be lodged against Karamjit Singh, who made his photo viral on social media for committing this act, reported news agency PTI.

Tytler’s name had figured in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Pratap Singh, Additional Secretary, SGPC also strongly reacted towards the incident and said that “it hurts Sikh sentiments”.

“Tytler engineered the 1984 riots and killed Sikhs. If he wears a t-shirt with his(Tytler) pic at Harmandir Sahib, it hurts Sikh sentiments. We appeal to the administration for strict action, otherwise, we'll be forced to take law in our hands.I request administration and Congress to take action,” Singh said, quoted by news agency ANI.

Later, Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Assistant Secretary (Media) said that on the instruction of SGPC President Dhami, a police complaint has been filed against Karamjit Singh by the manager of Sri Darbar Sahib.

“Visiting Sri Harmandar Sahib while wearing a t-shirt with a photo of such a person (Tytler) is an act of annoying the Sikhs,” said Dhami.

Dhami said it is clear that Amritsar-based Karamjit Singh, a representative of Congress party, has committed this act as part of “deliberate conspiracy”.

“The Congress has always remained anti-Sikh. Today, the Congress leader has once again hurt the Sikh sentiments by publicising the photo of Tytler at Harmandir Sahib," he said.

Harmandir Sahib is the central shrine of Sikhs and is also a centre of devotion for the people of the whole world, the SGPC chief said, adding the act of hurting Sikh sentiments at this holy place cannot be tolerated.
