Sedition case filed actor-politician Ramya for ‘Pakistan is not hell’ remark

BENGALURU: A Karnataka-based advocate on Monday has filed a case of sedition against actor-turned-politician Ramya for her 'Pakistan is not hell' remark. Ramya, who visited Pakistan to attend the SAARC meeting of young parliamentarians, had said that Defence Minister Manohar Parikar was wrong in comparing Pakistan with 'hell'. "Its really sad but such is situation in country today," Ramya said after the complaint was filed against her. "Everybody is entitled to their views and that is what democracy is about, you can't force your ideology on anyone," the former Congress MP said. "Politicians want to polarise and spread hatred. Just because borders separate us we shouldn't hate others," she added. Kannada actor-turned-politician Ramya, whose real name is Divya Spandana, said that its freedom of speech and also our duty to speak on inclusiveness and peace. "I respectfully disagree, Pakistan is not hell, people there are just like us. Curbing freedoms is wrong in democratic," the 33-year-old, who has also been trolled on twitter for her comments, said. "Don't think I am wrong. I also love Bangladesh, Sri Lanka. I love every SAARC country. India is my country and I live here," she said. Referring to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's remark "going to Pakistan is like going to hell,"she  had said that Pakistan is a good country, not hell. "His comments are not true.
