Scindia Inaugurates 8 Aircraft Routes To Strengthen Aerial Connectivity Between MP, Maharashtra & Gujarat

The newly-appointed Union aviation minister congratulated the residents of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat over the beginning of new airline operations.

New Delhi: Eight new aerial aircraft routes aimed at strengthening the connection between Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat were inaugurated by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. 

The Union aviation minister congratulated the residents of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat over the beginning of new airline operations.  

“Besides, additional flights between the Delhi-Jabalpur route will also commence from July 18 onwards, and Khajuraho-Delhi-Khajuraho flights from October 2021 onwards. We are committed to bolster regional air connectivity and take the Prime Minister's vision of Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) to greater heights", he added at the flag-off ceremony, as reported by Business Today. 

 Gwalior-Mumbai, Gwalior-Pune, Jabalpur-Surat, and Ahmedabad-Gwalior are the eight new aerial aircraft routes. SpiceJet is anticipated to begin service on these soon. 

The start of these routes meets the Ministry of Civil Aviation's goal of improving regional connectivity between Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and the country's metros. Jabalpur is now linked to Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune via non-UDAN flights, as well as to Bilaspur via UDAN lines, following the flag-off. While Gwalior is currently well connected via UDAN routes to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Jammu, it is also well connected via non-UDAN routes to Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad. 

According to a government press release, the opening of these lines fulfills the goal of the "Sab Uden Sab Juden" project under the UDAN scheme. 

Indigo Airlines launched a new service connecting Kolkata and Imphal with Dibrugarh, Assam, as part of the UDAN scheme earlier this month. 

So far under the scheme, 359 routes and 59 airports, including 5 heliports and 2 water aerodromes have been made operational. 

As flying becomes a favored, safe, and time-saving means of transportation, the number of domestic passengers is growing. 1,56,450 people flew on 1,450 planes on July 15, 2021. The overall number of flights was 2,915 and the total number of passengers was 3,12,892.
