Eight women scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who contributed to India's ambitious lunar landing mission, marched down on the Kartavya Path, earlier known as Rajpath, on Friday. An all-women contingent from ISRO centres in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Sriharikota lead the special tableau.
The space agency's tableau also showcased other key missions, including Aditya L1 and the upcoming Gaganyaan mission. The Chandrayaan-3 lander module successfully landed on the moon's South Pole on August 23. India became the first country to have achieved the historic feat and only the fourth country after the US, Russia, and China to land on the moon.
Among other feats, India now aims for the Gaganyaan Mission in 2024-2025, setting up 'Bharatiya Antariksha Station' by 2035, and sending the first Indian to the Moon by 2040, as reported by ANI. A total of 25 tableaux, including 16 from various States and Union territories and 9 from central government departments, will be on display at the Republic Day parade.
Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 every year to commemorate the day when our Constitution came into effect in 1950. French President Emmanuel Macron is the chief guest at the event this year.
