Rajnath Singh's Key Meeting, Opposition's Main Offensive In Parliament: Top Points On India-China Clash

The latest India-China Clash rocked Parliament as the Opposition cornered the government. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will make a statement in Parliament today on the same.

The Parliament is bracing for a stormy sitting, with the Opposition all set to train guns at the government over the latest clash between India and China on December 9 near Tawang at the Arunachal Pradesh Line of Actual Control. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a high-level meeting to discuss the stand-off between the two countries. He will give a statement on the incident in Parliament today.

1. The meeting was held with Army Chief General Manoj Pandey and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan. Senior commanders of the Air Force and Navy will were also present in the meeting.

2. More than 30 Indian soldiers suffered injuries during the face-off. At least six soldiers injured in the clash in the Tawang sector were brought to Guwahati for treatment, sources had told ABP News.

3. The Congress on Monday hit out at the center soon after the news spread, claiming that the government needs to take the nation into confidence by discussing the issue in Parliament. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge said, "We are one with the nation on the issues of national security and would not like to politicise it. But the Modi government should be honest about the Chinese transgressions and the construction at all points near the LAC since April 2020."

4. Several Congress leaders, including Manish Tewari and Syed Nasir Hussain, have sought a discussion on the border clash in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively. AAP MP Raghav Chadha and RJD's Manoj Jha have also sought a discussion on the border clash in Rajya Sabha.

5. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal wished the injured Indian soldiers a quick recovery. Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi, "Our jawans are the pride of the nation. I salute their valour and pray to God for their speedy recovery."

6. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday moved an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha, alleging that the government kept the country in the dark about the clash.

8. The Congress also tweeted a video of Prime Minister Modi's speech made after the Galwan clash in which he said, "no one occupied our land and no one has entered India and that none of our posts is in occupation of anyone else". "Had China been named, it would not have dared to raise its eyes towards India," it further said.

9. A statement by the Indian Army said, "Both sides immediately disengaged from the area. As a follow up of the incident, own (Indian) commander in the area held a flag meeting with his counterpart to discuss the issue in accordance with structured mechanisms to restore peace and tranquillity."

10. This is the first incident of its kind after the June 15, 2020, incident when 20 Indian soldiers were killed and several others were injured in violent clashes with the PLA troops in Ladakh's Galwan Valley. China has acknowledged that five Chinese military officers and soldiers were killed, but it is widely believed that the death count was higher.
