New Delhi: The Rajasthan government decided on Sunday to request the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate the case of the mentally challenged girl who was discovered in a distressed state on a bridge in Alwar with damage to her private parts, according to the official announcement.
As per the announcement, the decision was made during a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PTI reported.
According to the state administration, the recommendation for a CBI investigation into the issue would be sent to the Centre as soon as possible.
The meeting was attended by Rajasthan Minister of State for Home Rajendra Singh Yadav, Chief Secretary Niranjan Arya, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Abhay Kumar, Director General of Police M L Lather, and other senior personnel.
The decision came a day after Gehlot stated that the state administration was willing to have the incident investigated by a police officer from outside Alwar, Crime Branch, Special Operations Group, or CBI if the girl's family requested it.
Alwar Case
On the night of January 11, the 14-year-old girl was discovered in a distressed situation with injuries to her private parts on a bridge near Tijara Fatak in Alwar.
She was discovered bleeding and was rushed to a hospital for a two-and-a-half-hour operation.
According to authorities, the investigation indicated that she had travelled alone from her hamlet to the metropolis.
Late Friday, authorities announced that they had obtained the girl's medical report, which ruled out rape suspicions.
They stated that they had yet to determine how the girl got such severe damage to her private regions.
