Jaipur: At least eleven people were killed in a road accident that took place in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district after a jeep rammed into a tractor-trolley that was parked on the roadside. Five others are said to be injured in the accident.


According to initial reports, the pickup vehicle van overturned in Gudha Gaurji police station area of Jhunjhunu district. The people in the pickup vehicle were returning from Lohargal to Heeron Ki Dhani of Tan Badau Panchayat.


Reacting to the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief at the road accident and shared his condolences to the bereaved families.


"Anguished by the tragic accident in Jhunjhunu. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of the deceased. The injured would be given Rs 50,000," the PMO tweeted quoting him. 






"20-22 people were traveling to their homes in a pickup vehicle when the incident happened. 8 people died on the spot, 1 died in hospital," Shankarlal Chabba, Sub-Inspector told news agency ANI.


Even Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot extended his condolences to the bereaved family. 


"May God give them strength to bear this loss and may the souls of the departed rest in peace. Wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident," Gehlot said.






Furthermore, he said that it is very sad that the death toll in the accident has increased to 11. "May God give strength to the bereaved family members in this difficult time, I pray to rest the souls of the departed," he added.
