Rahul Gandhi Replies To Breach Of Privilege Notice Over Remarks Against PM Modi

February 15 was the last date for the reply to the privilege notice.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday sent a reply to the breach of privilege notice against him over his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a debate on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the parliament on February 7.
 
Complaints were made against Rahul Gandhi’s parliamentary speech by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Parliamentary Affairs Min Pralhad Joshi where he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Hindenburg Research report on the Adani group.
 
February 15 was the last date for the reply to the privilege notice.

"I am to request you kindly to furnish your reply/comments in the matter by February 15, 2023," the letter written by a Lok Sabha official was quoted by ANI in its report.

Pralhad Joshi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing Rahul Gandhi of misleading the House by levelling charges without providing any documentary evidence.
 
Speaking to ANI, Nishikant Dubey said, "Without giving any notice to the Speaker, you can't raise such allegations against our PM. In the notice, we have asked Rahul Gandhi to furnish proof to the Speaker by February 15 to support his claims (against PM Modi) or he must apologise in Parliament, failing which he will lose his seat in the Lok Sabha."

In the letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Dubey wrote, "These statements are misleading, derogatory, indecent, unparliamentary, undignified and incriminatory in nature to the dignity of the House and Prime Minister being a Member of Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi, despite making statement in the House that he would provide documentary evidence, has not submitted any duly authenticated document for supporting his statements."

Joshi, who filed a similar letter, stated that Rahul Gandhi's words are "derogatory, indecent, unparliamentary, and undignified" and might be removed by the Speaker.
