Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday asked the party’s state presidents and other leaders to attack all the anti-people policies of PM Modi-led Central government.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday asked the party’s state presidents and other leaders to attack all the anti-people policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government ahead of the 2019 General Elections. Gandhi said this while addressing a meeting which was organised in the national capital to review the party’s election preparedness and strategy in each state. According to reports, Gandhi asked Congress leaders to expose the anti-farmers, anti-women, anti-youth and all other anti-people policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. Further, in his speech, Congress President stressed on some hotbed issues including increasing unemployment, farmers’ distress, the devastation of constitutional bodies and the misuse of institutions and investigative agencies. Gandhi asked his leaders to conduct mass campaigning across the country and on social media. Gandhi was of the view that state leaders should proactively highlight cases of corruption of BJP-led state governments. Gandhi also asked the leaders to emphasise on pro-people policies of the Congress like the minimum income guarantee scheme and others. Leaders were asked to focus on state-oriented issues and suggest them to the Congress manifesto committee. “Today I met with our CLP Leaders & PCC Chiefs from all over India to review our election preparedness & strategy in each state. We discussed a wide range of issues related to the upcoming elections,” the Congress President said in a tweet. Reportedly, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) is also expected to meet soon to further discuss on the preparedness of Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The committee is also expected to further boost Gandhi’s proposal of minimum guaranteed income and welcome the entry of Priyanka Gandhi and Jyotiraditiya Scindia into Congress’ highest decision-making body. It is also said that Congress high-command has asked all the general secretaries and state chiefs to complete the selection of candidates by the end of February. Gandhi along with several other Congress leaders have upped their ante against PM Modi-led BJP government over several issues including rising farmers’ distress, Rafale jet aircraft deal, unemployment among others.
